Paladin D
Being only born in `87, I do not remember much of the 80's. However, recalling the memories of the early 90's...80's music was still the norm. Just as how now in 2000, kids still listen to music from the late 90's. Even though most 80's music wasn't as "super cool" as it is now, it was much more enjoyable. I'm currently listening to an online station that plays 80's music 24/7 (no commercials). It just brings memories of my early childhood, and oddly enough...the city if Philadelphia. The music is cool, but not extremely intense where it isn't enjoyable, it's just "perfect". Sure, a good ole loud hard rock song is amesome time to time, but it gets boring. I hope I'm not the only one that feels the same way.
Azriel
Well, since I'm a good *cough* fifteen years older than you, I remember the 80s quite well, and 80s music was ALWAYS super cool. Runs out of the thread singing ::we're the kids in America!::
cmotherofpirl
Lol. THe new band in my day was the Beatles. I like 70's music much more than 80's or 90's.

Thomas Michael
Ah yes, the 80's... back when MTV actually played music videos all the time. Duran Duran, Thompson Twins, Depeche Mode, INXS, U2, The Fixx, R.E.M., Def Leppard... those were among my favorite 80's artists.
Carrie
I love 80's music! The Bangles, Depeche Mode, The Go Go's, Metallica (when they were good), Guns and Roses, oh the list can go on and on.
Paladin D
Yeah, it seems most modern music these days, all have similar messages. - I lost my girl/boy friend. - I wanna die, can't live anymore. - Sleeping around, getting rich, shooting up cops. - Jesus loves you (over and over) And alike. I just can't take it.
cmotherofpirl
Paladin that sounds like the makings of a country song to me. :D
Paladin D
I apologize for my previous statement. "Super cool" was a poor term, what I met to say was... Today's music (depending on the band of course) "musically", it's more complex. I'm lacking descriptive words right now, so bare with me.
Kilroy the Ninja
Go ahead, name an album from the 80's. Chances are I own it.
Qamidalash
Gosh, guys!! My fave 80's band has to be the B-52's...and just cause of Love Shack. I was born in '88, so like Paladin I wasn't really familiar w/ 80s music back then....and I'm still not!! I simply love Love Shack, however, b/c my dad used to play it a LoT when I was little. And it's fun to dance to... But truth be told, give me CCM anyday!!

nippy316
Oh my gosh....an 80's music thread. I can't believe it. I, too, was born in '87, but I've ALWAYS loved looking to the 80's for the BEST music ever. All my close friends tell me I should have been born 15 years earlier. And I wish I was. Okay, here are my favorites for this week: Brian Adams Corey Hart Hall and Oats J. Giles Band Michael (Jackson....we're on a first name basis) and I also like Madonna's VOGUE. Oh, and the SUPERBOWL SHUFFLE!! Nothing like Jim McMahon and the '85 Bears...whoo... Okay, so who likes my choices and who doesn't?? And don't even say anything negative about Michael Jackson. I spend enough time defending him at school everyday.
