It "may" have been an inappropriate picture for some and it is dUSt's privilege AND responsibility to set and enforce the threshold on his website, according to his conscience. I've agreed with Dust's privilege and responsibility to set and enforce the threshold on his website, according to his conscience. I've agreed with that several times in this thread. Dust is the Biggest Boss not Rick Ross. I'm off to Mass to eat Jesus Christ's Flesh and Drink His Blood. God bless everyone. Have a nice Sunday. Nihil Obstat
Indeed. And this is precisely the reason that I believe fine art, of which nude art is an important element, are desperately needed in our society as a witness to the beauty and dignity of the human body and, by extension, God's creation. Fine art directly and strongly contradicts the sexualization and degredation that have accompanied pop culture.

Say one for me! The times in the long past when I was disillusioned and crushed by the human element of The Church, what kept me a practising Catholic was knowing I could not desert Jesus in The Blessed Eurcharist and only that. As I journeyed on I came to understanding through education of various forms - and from understanding came forgiveness - and forgiveness is not at all condoning. It was a journey and now only hindsight tells me Jesus journeyed with me even in all my anger, hurt, non understanding and refusal to forgive. His Hidden Presence in every way from me very gently led me to wherever on earth I am now and I invest in that He will lead me into any future including through all and any messes I should make in that future. Not yet. It is still in its final stages of review and publication but I have indicated to my university that I would like it digitised. P.s. for other shocking non-pornographic nudes, check out Manet's Olympia and Luncheon on the Grass. Olympia is one of my favourite nudes - besides Polykleitos' Doryphoros. Probably the worst example for a clear example of non-pornagraphic Art and a great example of Art pushing the boundaries for the definition of pornography. Guest
I have to laugh heartily and wonder what conclusions people would arrive at/jump to if they sighted on my shower curtain images of naked men images from artworks I do have some framed prints up in Bethany of classical art - I had to have a think about images on the walls to check if any were naked or not. Didn't need to check my shower curtain.

Naked males from artworks on my shower curtains sure would shock some sweet old lady (not me for sure!) going into my bathroom to wash her hands and I truly would get quite paranoid subsequently about what the parish would be saying about me in some quarters. I have a great pp with whom I have had a couple of revealing conversations (lived a full life in the laity before entering the seminary) and I suspect he would look very suitably shocked and consoling to any and all horrified - and then when alone kill himself laughing. Those naked males sure would be a great conversation piece and that's a fact for those 'indiscreet' enough to say : "What the h*** is your shower curtain all about?" I could always reply I suppose "They're my distraction under stress!" Edited January 16, 2017 by BarbaraTherese

If it gets digitised, would you be able to let me know. I'd like to take a look. I'm working on the devotional life of a particular convent and one of the things I'm looking at is how their specific devotions were shaped by and helped shape attitudes on gender and gender relations.
