Have Any Prayer Requests? I'm Going To Missions Today

First off, Happy feast of the Holy name of Jesus! (I've got my IHS shirt on to celebrate!)

I'm leaving to take a little trip in about 40 minutes to visit several Missions in Southern CA, so if you have any prayer requests you'd like me to pray for while I'm there, please leave them below :) I will be keeping all of your intentions in prayer regardless (and in case I don't see them in time but I'll have a tablet with me and keep checking this thread)

The last time I was at a Mission was almost 10 years ago so I'm excited ^_^ Please pray for good weather and a safe drive for us. It's going to be cold today but it's supposed to be clear weather.

Thanks for posting your intentions. I light a candle and prayed for each of you as well as those quiet intentions everyone here (Phatmass) have hidden in your hearts.

We went to 2 Missions (San Diego and San Luis Rey). We had a splendid time because the weather was perfect; cloudy but no rain and it wasn't too cold. There wasn't a lot people at the Missions either so we had nice and private touring to ourselves! There was a bit of traffic on the way home (5:00 work traffic  So sorry for you folks who have to drive home in that every day) but it didn't dampen our moods in the slightest. We listened to Elvis and Gregory Alan Isakov in the car.

I went with my grandma who is a Baptist Christian but appreciates the Catholic faith. She even went to Rome last year, so she really enjoys magnificent churches and things. We sat in prayer for a good while in each Chapel (the San Luis Rey chapel is spectacular!) and I heard her crying next to me. It is very enlightening to see how a non-Catholic can be so gently moved by the presence of Jesus and by the stations of the cross. Each time we saw a Pieta we paused and united ourselves to this great mystery (and for me sorrow because I pray the Seven Sorrows). I took about a thousand photos on her camera so when I get them I may post some here. We're planning on going to more in the coming weeks (or maybe after because my sister is getting married Feb. 2) so I'll keep reviving this thread as long as I'm going to Missions.

I enjoyed myself immensely and I'm sorry I haven't gone to them more then the one time I did. If you live in California (or visiting), I highly recommend going to the Missions. They are fantastic and you learn a lot about the early struggles of Catholics in America. As someone who is part Native American and Catholic, it is hard to see such controversy surrounding them though. America has a very bloody past and I think people often forget that it wasn't just one people who were persecuted; people from both sides were and sometimes still are persecuted today. We've come a long way but it is important to teach the truth of what happened back then to our youth. The museum's do a good job portraying both sides and have a lot of exhibit's dedicated to the Native Americans. They were really wonderful and I'd love to go back even though we really took our time exploring.

Okay, I'm going to more Missions tomorrow. This time we'll be accompanied by one of my great aunts and it's supposed to be another great day weather wise :). I'll be making more stops in the chapel's so please if you'd like me to pray for something specific go ahead and drop a reply ;) I'll pray for those who already replied again as well as the rest of the Phorum if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly. You can always shoot me a PM with a request as well.
