Worsening Vertigo

After suffering with worsening vertigo, I contacted the ENT office again last week and they have scheduled me for a VNG balance test to see what kind of vertigo I am suffering from.  I ended up seeing him on an emergency appointment on Friday before they closed because the vertigo was making me feel like I was going to fall as I walked.  He had me do the Fukuda Stepping Test for Vestibular Function - you march in place with your eyes open and, after a few seconds, he asked me to close my eyes which tests if your brain knows where you are.  Typically, someone with vestibular malfunction marches in a circle.  I wasn't able to get that far because I felt dizzy immediately after closing my eyes.  He had me sit back down and explained to me that he did not feel comfortable prescribing anything at this point because it could be a few things - namely either Meniere's Disease (though, a mild case since I'm not usually nauseous) or Migraine-Associated Vestibulopathy.  He wants me to come back next month for the VNG test which will give a better idea of the course of treatment.  If it is a vestibular problem in the inner ear, he can treat it.  If it's neurological, like a migraine, he will refer me to a neurologist for treatment.

Please say some prayers.  My patron saint this year is St. Bernadette, which I think is a God-wink.  I ended up buying a cane at the pharmacy because I don't want to be walking down the hall at work and fall down.  I am so anxious at the thought, I end up sitting as much as I can, but I have to get up and move around - it's part of my job.  Until I have some real treatment options, I'll just have to work through it.  :(
