This article would have been more timely back when the mean age of the Church was lower (and the mean testosterone level, higher).  Nowadays, there is no danger of a fistfight breaking out with heretics, which is probably why most people take the joke lightly.  If the Crusades happened today, they would be carried out via nagging, and this author would be a knight.
