Not A Mallard

I'm thankful that Godzilla coming to destroy my home town was only a dream. And I've somehow never had that dream until last night.

I'm thankful I still have my dad, who at 17, was drafted to fight the Nazis.  (Not Donald Trumps cabinet and deplorables, but the real Nazis.). He's from The Greatest generation, those teenagers who didn't hesitate when Uncle Sam yanked them out of their ordinary worlds and pulled them into the horror of war.  The Nazis thought our boys were pansies, but my dad and his contemporaries showed those bastards.  And they did it all without "safe spaces" and worrying about "trigger" words.  America sent her best:  white, Hispanic, Mexican, Irish, Italian, asian, native American, black, Polish, English, even German!   Despite Americas imperfections on equality at home, every group readily defended the country and didn't go sitting around at the National Anthem, rioting and burning flags.  They did it despite the problems at home, because they believed in the idea of America---that such a country should not disappear off the face of the earth...

so i Thank God today for my 91 year old dad, for his generation, for what they accomplished.  I grew up in the shadow of my father's experience.  It left a great impression on me.  I don't know how long I have left with my dad...but I sure do cherish these holidays with him.  ❤️️❤️️❤️️

Wow, leave it to y'all to politicize even a Thanksgiving thread.

I'm thankful for my new job, and the ability to give back to my home parish through it. I'm also thankful for my Grandpa (another WWII vet) and the time I've had recently to be with him. I'm also thankful for this country, and it's people.

I'm thankful for being a seminarian, having a week off of school, and that my formator hasn't found out I'm the one that put glitter all over three peoples' beds. :|

I am thankful that I am so much holier and devout than the rest of you heathens.

And for my sense of humility. J/K

Right now I would say I am feeling thankful for my GF and my family, having a roof over my head, food on the table and being able to pay all my bills, not having money problems, gonna be thankful for some turkey, stuffing and sweet potato pie pretty soon, having a good job, and last but not least to the Lord for saving my life, and being there to forgive me even though I fail and fail again.

Peace

I am thankful that Canadian Thanksgiving is on a date that makes much more sense than literally a month before Christmas. :| Typical American gluttony, cramming all your holidays together.

thankfully The modern Canadian Thanksgiving Day owes a debt to the American Loyalists who carried the New England custom with them when they fled to Nova Scotia at the time of the Revolutionary War

Im thankful that my wife and i raised 3 kinds , aged a year and a half apart on basically one paycheck and now that they are all grown up and on there own we (the Mrs & me) can relax and take it easy.

I'm thankful that I had Thanksgiving at my kids with some family and non family and that we've noticed that wherever we have TG at, there is usually someone new to meet.  We all had a great time, shared life stories, philosophy, differing opinions, hugs, new foods, old recipes, and laughter.  I'm a very, very rich man.

Thankful especially for my call to baptism and The Church - and for good health. my family and friends, and in a special sort of way for my sons and their wives.

Thankful that my dad actually ate two full servings of everything, still recognized everyone, spoke clearly and even walked 4 city blocks back home (with two of his grand and great grand children escorting him.)  that was a nice picture.

He's my thanksgiving.   Thank You Jesus!
