Nihil Obstat
Big props to @Makarioi for knowing something that apparently nobody else did. I hope you put some money on this outcome somewhere.

That is not the relevant metric though. By electoral votes it was not really close. Popular vote is window dressing.

Not necessarily mutually exclusive. Trump absolutely won by a large margin according to electoral votes, which is necessary and sufficient condition for winning the White House. The results of the popular vote have other relevant implications, absolutely. I do not deny that. I simply think it is missing the forest for the trees to not call this a win by a large margin. By the one single necessary/sufficient condition, it was. Edited November 9, 2016 by Nihil Obstat
KnightofChrist
In terms of the Electoral College 306 to 232 (74 point deficit for Clinton) Trump won in a landslide. Republicans will be able to claim a mandate due to their winning the White House, and majorities in both houses of Congress.

But they should be able to get their agenda through with the votes they have. They have to move quick b/c total control rarely lasts more than one cycle. This will only be the third time Republicans control both houses with a "Republican" president. Dems have had full control 11 times since 1945. little2add
The clinton’s campaign has spent over $609 million running for president and all Hillary has to show for it is a lousy pant suit $12,495 — cost of the Giorgio Armani jacket Clinton wore to her New York primary victory speech in April.
