Voris' videos suggests a belief that the Church is on the brink of total destruction, and that if it wasn’t for the work of Michael Voris then the good that is happening (seemingly very little) would also be destroyed. Not only does this run contrary to the promise of Christ that He would never abandon His Church, but it also suggests a belief that without the work of Michael Voris the Church would be lost.

I've said this once on phatmass, but I believe it is relevant here:

During a frustrating argument with a Roman Catholic cardinal, Napoleon Bonaparte supposedly burst out: “Your eminence, are you not aware that I have the power to destroy the Catholic Church?” The Cardinal, the anecdote goes, responded ruefully: “Your majesty, we, the Catholic clergy, have done our best to destroy the church for the last 1,800 years. We have not succeeded, and neither will you.”

The shocking part about this thread is how The OP has been on phatmass this long and has not heard of Voris or come across one of the many Voris threads or non-Voris threads that have devolved after Voris was mentioned in the thread.

I think she is trolling... Just messing with ya L&T.

I'm pretty much in line with Papist on Voris, but on the flip side we can't go the other extreme and just sit by and do or say nothing because "it's always been that way". Yes, the Cardinal in the anecdote is correct, but along they way many souls have been and are being lost. We should always be seeking to improve, not acquiesce to the status quo.

It's gotten to the point in certain circles that if you admonish or just critique clergy, religious and even lay on things that are fishy or just plain wrong you are treated as reactionary, an alarmist or uncharitable.

"Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops, like bishops, and your religious act like religious.--Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, 1972"

Santo subito.

One does not become virtuous by comparison.

Your whole post is awesomely apt and eloquent, but especially this.
