Jack4
Among the Orientals, the Syriacs are called "Worshippers of the Holy Cross". I am giving below a few prayers. See the original Syriac as well as an English translation of a Maronite hymn: Syriac hymn used by the SyroMalankara Church and her Oriental Orthodox counterparts. The video gives the English translation as well:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRhb56R_4aE __________________________________________________________________________ I have the propers of the feast in the SyroMalabar rite. I wish I could post them all. For now, I will confine myself to the prayers analogous to the collect (said by the priest) and to the invitation to communion (proclaimed by the deacon). _______________________ Opening prayer or Collect: Celebrant: O God our Lord, we praise you, for you sent your son to among us. You saved us through the Cross, which is scandal/division to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles and elevated it to the symbol of salvation. Strengthen us weaklings to worthily celebrate the salvific mysteries of the Messiah, on this day, when we celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Lord of all, forever, Cong: Amen ____________________________________ Invitation to Communion Deacon: The Cross, worthy of adoration, creates awe and wonder in heaven-dwellers and earth-dwellers. The Cross redeemed us us and won for us victory. The Cross has renewed and reconciled us. The living crucified one searched for us and saved our lost lives. Lord, you give us your Holy body and blood as food. Our tongues are strengthless to praise you. _____________
