Last night at RCIA Adam and I talked to the Religious Education Director seperately, and I don't know what I said, but whatever it was, Phil (the Religioug Education Director) said that he was in awe of me.

I did tell him, that I don't really want to become Catholic, but I know I have to, therefore I'm in the process of it.

Thy Geekdom Come

Could that be what he's in awe of? That you don't really want to, but that you know you must, shows a very mature decision of logic over emotion, especially in a religious change, where we are comfortable with something since we are very young and overcome the emotion of leaving it for what we know to be right.

That is awe-inspiring.

He said that Adam seemed more ready (emotionally) to join the church, and I told that Adam had eight years of being in the Catholic church on me.

I also told him that I don't really want to be in RCIA, at least not in as big of a group, cause it makes me extremely uncomfortable. The way I"m seeing it right now is that I'm already uncomfortable joining the church, so the least they could do is let me be in a smaller group ;)

lol You're funny Teresa. :) I'd probably be in awe of you, too.

I got your e-mail last night. I am 99% sure I can be there.

By "not wanting to" do you mean, sort of the jitters people sometimes get when they make a committment...or do you mean, "no, this ain't for me, but I have to anyway?"

The way I explained my feelings to him was as follows:

You're born into a family, and this family is all you've ever known. Then you get plucked out of this family. You don't want to go, but you know that you have to, therefore you do.

I've told God I'm not going to do something, and He turns around and not only puts my foot in my mouth, but shoves it down my throat, as if He's saying, 'Excuse me, you are not the one who tells me what to do. I am the one who shows you what to do.'

I've gotten sick of my foot getting put in my mouth, so when I know God's telling me to do something, I do it, whether I want to or not.

That´s good that God wants you to know that he is showing you what to do...but the foot down the throat must be uncomfortable

From what you've described, it sounds like a case of not wanting to lose what you have, rather than not wanting to be Catholic. I would say that that is perfectly healthy.

It's not that you don't love the Church and want to be a part of it, it is that you don't want to lose the relationships you have strived to build.

Or am I hearing you wrong?
