ortus
It is indeed good news. I understand that Abbot Gregory was elected almost unanimously on the second ballot ... may the Lord bless his service to the Order. He replaces an illustrious Abbot Primate who was noted for his work in ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue. May Fr Notker be blessed by the Lord in all he does. salveregina10
We give thanks for his election this weekend, what a blessing for the Benedictine world. He is a living Saint - when a deranged man came into Conception Abbey, killed two monks and wounded others, Abbot Gregory immediately forgave the shooter, offered to have the same ambulance transport him with the slain monks and to even have his funeral in their basilica. Since that shooting in 2003, the Abbey has flourished and been a source of hope. Please pray with me for Abbot Primate Polan and all Benedictines.
