I never expected it to make me feel so crummy. You'd think a random "compliment" would make you feel good, but when it's said in a certain tone of voice and the guy is with a couple of other guys and you're alone, it feels a lot more like some sort of veiled threat. Anyways, I just wanted to know: does anyone know how is best to respond to stuff like this? Ignore it completely? Say thank you and move on? Tell them off? I was sort of taken aback when it happened; I was walking past these guys close by on the sidewalk, so I sort of just mumbled "thank you" and kept walking briskly. I imagine a lot of this depends on the situation, but I thought it'd be interesting to hear people's thoughts on it regardless. Ignore it. They want your attention. They want interaction. They want to be able to tell their buddies they got you, one way or the other (either they ended up charming you or they ended up burning you). I've read that mace is not always effective on true psychopaths for some neurophysiological reason. But mace and pepper spray are different. The latter is inflammatory and the former is an irritant so it affects people differently. A stun gun seems like you have to get up close and personal tho? I've been considering getting a license to carry a gun but I've never touched a gun and don't really know where to start. I live in MA so its kind of a pain. You also need a license to carry pepper spray which is insane. I think most people who live here don't even know that

He was kicked out of the Council briefly for punching Arius, and later went on the record saying he regretted his actions. Saint Padre Pio, however, was repeatedly physically forceful with his lessons, and he for one gave zero apologies.

It seems that people keep saying that St. Nicholas punched Arius like it was something so great. You're right in pointing out that he regretted the action. So, why do we keep praising it? Should we? I'm asking myself this too. St. Pio had plenty of purgatory moment here on earth with which to expiate his temper…lol.
HisChildForever
I lectured a gas station attendant who was talking about me to himself, clearly intending for me to hear. I saw that he had a wedding ring on and I told him that he should be ashamed of himself. He was take aback and apologized. It was probably dumb of me because I was the only customer there and it was night. But these things get under my skin that I just speak on impulse and I am hardly pleasant about it.
