Actually, in reference to the red lettering. In all honesty, if someone professes to be Non-Catholic in their "Group" status, then there really should be no need to do the red letter thing.

On the other hand, if someone simply listed themselves as a "Phatmasser" but are truly Non-Catholic, then I can understand the red lettering. Otherwise, people like me, who wish to learn may be lead incorrectly as to the teachings of the Church.

Maybe, if there is an option under Non-Catholic for one to choose which particular Protestant religion they are, then that may help.

Peace.

Maybe, I mean there seems to be no difference in title between an Anglican (99.9999% Catholic) and a satanist. Meh, I don't really care that much :)

Hey, I only suggested it so that it wouldnt have to simply state "NON-CATHOLIC".

Often times, we have to ask specifically what denomination you are affiliated with, what you believe in, and if you believe it.
Or some dont tell which denomination they are with, state their beliefs here and there, and it becomes a guessing game as to which specific denomination they are with.

If youre a Lutheran, then be proud of it.
If youre a Born-Again, then be proud of that.

I personally dont care, to tell you the truth. Except that there are quite a few phatmassers who arent Catholic and it throws me off when they post and I have to try to remember, "Oh, yeah. That's right. So and so isnt Catholic. That's why he/she stated that." Especially when they use the same avatars as a Catholic phatmasser.

I have made it clear that I am Catholic by desire. If dUSt decided to smack that across my "group", I wouldnt have an issue with it. Until I am confirmed. But at least everyone would know where I'm at.
I have had some here assume that I am Catholic, and gently correct me, only to find out that I have not been received and am still learning. (That's how Likos and I became friends.)

If you have a better idea, than state it. Unless picking on my suggestion makes you feel all fuzzy inside, then have a ball. :)
Otherwise, why post about the red letters, if you like them?
If you like them, good. Now get on with it.

Peace. :D

we should make all their posts be on a red flashing backround, and everywhere they post should make a big siren sound with a voice saying "non-Catholic alert, prepare to launch torpedos"

I think the red non-Catholic is cool. No need to label them further. If they want to, they can add it in their sig, or wait until they get 3,150 posts and change their title. We can't get too superficial. People will know who they are by the type, style, and tone of their posts, just like we all can tell the style of Catholic people are.

perhaps dUSt should just override all their avatars to be this:

A game of semantics does not proof make. Saint has more than oen sense, as with many words, and it may be splitting theological hairs, but with 2000 years of arguing, distinctions will be made.

Some general tips:

1. The Church has never avoided discussing a verse in the Bible. "Oh my Gosh! Look at THIS verse!" may get someone who doesn't do their homework, but it won't get an informed Catholic. It's a poor attack, and it's not honest.

2. When you say Catholic Church, you exclude the other Rites. Are you a Maronite Catholic? Are you Ukrainian? If so, then why oppose the "Catholic Church" since we follow the same dogma. Or is it a disciplinary matter?
I know it's a popular term, but it's not accurate; I believe people have been discussing the lack of importance to be placed on mere popularity...

Bingo, Winchester.
I think some feel as though they are hurting someones feelings when they use "Catholic Church".
I personally use CC- because there are different rites, and as long as they are all in same with the Vatican, then they are the CC.

The Catholic Church is the Catholic Church is the Catholic Church.

Peace :peace:
