katherineH
Hello friends, I remember reading a church document about Mary in which she was described with the greek word that meant "remnant." The idea was that within with the Israelites, there was a strand of faithful ones (the remnants) and Mary in her fiat mirrored their faithfulness. Does anyone know what the greek word is? I've looked high and low. Thanks!! I posted this in Q&A and didn't get any answers, so hopefully round 2 will be better

McM RSCJ
I think the Hebrew word you are thinking of is "Anawim."

This is a slightly different concept, though I know various scholars have talked about Mary in terms of this biblical category.

It was my understanding that "Anawim" means something to the effect of "small, dependent on God." Correct me if I'm wrong, though. Edit: Hang on, isn't "Anawim" a Hebrew word? I don't think it's Greek...? Edited August 4, 2016 by LittleWaySoul

LittleWaySoul
Ha, I only just realized that @McM RSCJ said it was a Hebrew word before me. My reading comprehension skills are going downhill fast, man.
