Guest
UNITED STATES CONFERENCE CATHOLIC BISHOPS - "WORLD YOUTH DAY SAFETY AND AWARENESS" U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE - WYD Information & Resources 1 hour ago, Ash Wednesday said: The early Christians did not live in fear of whatever persecution or terrorism existed in their lives. Take precautions and invoke the protection of Our Lady. Fair comment again ...........but easy for me to talk since my children are now adults with careers and independent with no plans to attend WYD 2016. Some are in the truly unenviable position to me to need to make decisions not for themselves - but a decision re WYD 2016 for their children. "Common sense is the guide of all the virtues" (St Albert - Original Rule of Carmel) St Albert - final instruction in his original rule of life for Carmel: [24] Here then are the few points I have written down to provide you with a standard of conduct to live up to; but our Lord, at his second coming will reward anyone who does more than he is obliged to do. See that the bounds of common sense are not exceeded, however, for common sense is the guide of the virtues.
Not A Real Name
Stay inside everyone and live in fear! Do exactly what terrorists want. Seriously if we're in a state of grace then we should welcome death with open arms. Our death might even purchase their conversion. What did Christ say to Peter when he told Him not to go to Jerusalem? Get behind me Satan!! Yeah, Christianity isn't for sissies.
Julie
4 hours ago, Papist said: There are many reasons parents will decide to not allow their child to go. Terror threat is now very real, and should be included in the decision making. Regardless, I would not allow my teenage child to go to another country w/o me or my wife. Well, despite the English translation "youth" and the large number of high schoolers from the US going, the event is actually directed at young adults (which apparently means anyone from around 18 to around 35). I definitely think sending teens and younger children without a parent or at least some good chaperones is a bad idea.
