Maddalena
Ok, I see some pretty bad outfits at Mass sometimes so I've decided to post what they were here. Y'all can add in any y'all see at your Church, too. Today's winner wore a white, spaghetti-strapped tank top, had bra straps hanging out (the clear plastic-strapped ones), fitted camouflage pants..... and a wedgie.
VeraMaria
Last week's winner wore a VERY tight VERY VERY short shirt and that certain person was....chubby, lets say, so it was extremely unattractive, and a tight skirt
inDEED
So I suppose that wearing my speedo with my crop top won't go over well here in the phorum?

Ash Wednesday
She had a wedgie? Oh my. maybe that cut the circulation off to her brain and she forgot to put a top on.
Budge
Im a fundamentalist Christian and well none of that stuff goes on in my church. My pastor probably would tell you personally to go home and change or later talk with you. We have sermons on modest dress and most here probably would consider my church members as dressing old fashion. Pants are worn a lot less then dresses. Ive seen this stuff in other churches, women wearing chunky shoes, crop tops and its not just the teenagers.

Colleen
Today's winner wore pants and a "top" that basically looked like a shawl except it didn't cover her left shoulder and her bra straps were showing. Hideous and distracting.
Quietfire
which is more of a sin? she who thought she looked nice in the camoflauge pants and top or she who is judging her 'bad dress'? This topic has come up before and I know in one of my books it talks about this very thing. I do plan on finding it and posting it here. Although she may have been dressed inappropriately to some, she may not (in all honesty) have realized it. I'm not coming down on anybody, believe me. I've done this myself. We need to grow past this though. I promise to find that segment. Peace.

Maddalena
Who's judging anyone harshly? It's the irreverent clothing I object to. She may well have been unaware that she was dressed immodestly, but if it bothered and distracted me at 17, I wonder what the 80-year-olds thought - not to mention the priest! Edited June 20, 2004 by Maddalena
Brother Adam
Im a fundamentalist Christian and well none of that stuff goes on in my church. Ive seen this stuff in other churches, women wearing chunky shoes, crop tops and its not just the teenagers.
You should come home to the fullness of truth, the Catholic Church and help us deal with those who are being immodest. Of course there is a fine line to draw. We would never dream of turning anyone away from God's house. Both sinners and saints are welcome into the Church. We can pray that those of us who are committed to being modest will have a strong influence on those who want to be immodest. I'd say if anyone is TOO immodest and distracts others from worship, that the church has some extra loose shirts and sweats to ask the person to put them on. The object is to try to not be confrontational during inappropriate times (we don't want to drive them away). Some fundamentalist groups take things too far and tend to lean towards legalism declaring rock music, any kind of drinking, and modest gambling sinful. So on and so forth. I heard one fundamentalist preacher scream "silly sally" and "whore" at a young woman on our college campus who's hair was cut just above her shoulders. Give me a break. Brother Adam
Disclaimer: Gambling should aways be for fun, never to earn money, the only money gambled should be very little, only what is in the "entertainment budget" and should be done with great discretion. Ash Wednesday
I reiterate what maddalena said -- don't think it is a matter of "judging" people, granted us ladies can be pretty catty about each other when we are dialling the fashion police -- but remember St. Paul admonished women for not covering their heads, too.
