sr.christinaosf
We're starting to think ahead to our annual celebration of 'St. Anne's Week,' during which we have fun in commemoration of the feastday of our patron saint, St. Anne (mother of Mary). We have dress up days and a special party. We might have a little dance the night of our pajama/bedtime day. I was thinking of calling it the "Bed-time Bop." If any one has any ideas for fun activities, etc. during this upcoming week of July 24-30, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
Seven77
since it's the Jubilee year of mercy, how about visiting a nursing home and spiritually adopting, as grandparents, the folks who live there
sr.christinaosf
We are like a nursing home, but our people don't need as much care - it's comparable to assisted living.

Pumpkin
Hi Sister, The Bedtime Bop sounds like a great idea - will you serve milk and cookies? Since St. Anne is Jesus' grandmother, it may be fun to incorporate intergenerational activities into St. Anne's week. Do you think your local parish's children/youth could visit the home to spend time with the residents? They could do arts and crafts, have a sing-along, or make easy, no-bake snacks together. Also, since St. Anne is the patron saint of pregnancy and mothers, you could host a baby shower to honor St. Anne's pregnancy with our Blessed Mother. The residents could play silly baby shower games (such as a baby food guessing game or a timed contest to sculpt little babies out of play-doh) and interested residents could also pray the rosary for mothers and babies in need. If you have a dedicated cadre of volunteers, ask if they can collect much-needed baby items, like diapers or formula. Those items can be donated to a local crisis pregnancy organization (and be sure to include a signed card from the residents who have prayed for the mothers and babies)

Great idea! Our residents love it when the children from our childcare visit them! How about having some kind of craft activity, like making cards for their children/grandchildren? Or having some kind of talk about St Anne and what they think she was like, or asking them to share memories from when their children were young. You could also maybe show a movie (if you have the room/facilities) about Mary (there is one called Mary of Nazareth, but I'm not sure how easily accessible it is).
