Strangely and with that surprise that our theology can offer, acts of the will apparently are more important and valuable than feelings; while acts of the will that are felt too on the feeling level is a consolation - and even a possible sign of advancement on the spiritual way (reformation of feeling I think they call it)..............with even countless miles still to travel always no matter how highly mystical or holy one might be apparently. All very strange to me while I hold it to be true because our theology and Catholic teaching always trumps my feelings and understandings. "11Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Vatican Bible: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0839/__PVE.HTM Barbara, why is your religion listed as "none of the above"? Are you no longer Catholic?
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
There is such a thing as private property. My house has it's own rules as does the church. I neither support or don't support gay marriage, as long as they don't force christians to marry homosexuals, transgender etc. Please remember the whole world is not catholic, the question to ask is why for 2000 years the number of practicing christians kept steadily increasing on the planet and why now is it declining. If the church is going to interfere with the pagans, athiest and agnostic rites to make there own choices than we beaver dam sure better start making statements about the death penalty. I am anti abortion, euthanasia, gay marriage, assisted suicide etc for christians, the others can do whatever the hell they want as far as i'm aware and my position is to help them get up off the floor after the devil cripples them. No one outside the church and half in the church at present will not listen to the truth because there brains have been shrunk and filled with a multitude of subliminal messages, one of those subliminal messages is that you your self are God and have the rite to do as you please and need not respect other peoples opinions, just understand we have all been brainwashed, that's what i reckon anyway. i could be wrong. The sanctity of our own life converts ex right? And how do we gain sanctity? I truly believe only Christ/love can sanctify us, prayer and all the religious stuff is necessary but only love saves, and God is love and Jesus says "Wherever any two or more are gathered in my name i shall be there." We must gather regularily in Jesus name at holy mass and outside of holy mass, this is not personal the trinity is a community, father, son and holy spirit, and perhaps we have relied far to much on marriage and family instead of the body in her entirety hence why finally the seams have begun to burst, though of course family and marriage is part of the body. I read an article in 'The messenger. St Anthony's' and the person replying to a lady complaining that her two hot daughters are over 30 and still living at home and should be married by now and the person that replied never even indicated that marriage is not necessary that lay single is also a vocation and as long as they are practicing there faith there should be absolutely no problem with this. Family first perhaps works in smaller communities but in big cities it does not. So Love comes down when we are gathered in his name, not any other name, we become light and take the light out into the world and the darkness turns grey. We are to be a light to all people and we are not a light without Christ/Love/God, no matter how many prayers we are doing or how much knowledge we have about holy scripture and sacred tradition. People used to go to holy mass far more often, that is gathering in Jesus name. So the Light of the church becomes a match stick instead of a bon fire therefore the world which had turned grey becomes dark. It is our fault and not theirs ! We must mix our wine with water, that is how the children of God can drink poison without being effected, you need to hang around with sheep more often in Jesus name than the wild beasties of this world, 2 thirds water and one third wine/poison. Onward Christian Souls. Jesus is LORD! God is Good, God is Love. P.s. I could be wrong and more than likely this is only the Truth in part and not it's fullness, if indeed i speak the truth.
