Guest
In real life I've gotten to know a few different people who were gay. Not Catholic and I'm not sure of their religious beliefs. One was a non practicing Jew. I always showed them respect and we got along fine. I actually think it would be amesome if they could date and get married guilt free. Well the ones I got to know I'm pretty sure they were guilt free but the Bible and the Catholic Church says they will go to hell if they don't repent. I understand how that can be tough for someone who is a gay Catholic/Christian and tries not to sin. That gay people should be able to date and enjoy their life is my initial reaction when I think about it. Without a doubt I think 2 dudes hooking up is gross but there is sincerely no violent hate there. It doesn't make me want to kill them or anything like that. The reason I don't support gay marriage and think homosexual acts are a mortal sin is because I'm Catholic. I trust the Church and Bible is right on this issue and I accept the teaching. Just like all the other teachings. I'm on edge lately because of all the terrorists attacks. It raises my anger and puts me on the defense. I'm personally really sick/fed up of having the gay agenda shoved in my face all the time. I've seen it affect practicing Catholics who are close to me. They have been deceived and think "gay marriage" is now okay even though the Church says it's clearly not. This angers and frustrates me. I've prayed for the victims in Orlando and will continue too. I've experienced God's mercy more than anyone and I wish that mercy on everyone else as well. Some of my post are ignorant and trollish. I need to work on that because my intent shouldn't be to anger and upset people. But I don't hate gay people or Muslims. I love them both. I don't love false religion though or "gay marriage". Never will. To anyone I've offended it's nothing personal. Peace. Edited June 16, 2016 by Guest
BarbTherese
General comments only to clarify (I hope) and without any sort of challenge or criticism intended and debate welcomed, correction too (on my part) if I deem necessary - I am no moral theologian for sure: Homosexual acts are grave matter and OBJECTIVE MORTAL SIN. Mortal sin requires two other conditions at the same time to constitute ACTUAL MORTAL SIN i.e. Full knowledge Full consent Quote "Objective Mortal Sin & The State of Grace" ......"Some atheists may be guilty to the extent of actual mortal sin for their rejection of God and religion; other atheists might be in a state of invincible ignorance. The same can be said about other sins. Homosexuals who are sexually active or in a legal same-sex marriage can possibly be saved without giving up this sinful behavior — if they are invincibly ignorant of the gravely immoral of their actions and not guilty (or at least repentant) from other types of grave sin. The state of grace can be possessed by persons who unfortunately do not realize that their actions are gravely immoral. This includes various sexual sins, the divorced and remarried, cohabitating couples, and other sins. Some persons might be guilty to the extent of actual mortal sin for their sexual sins; others might be in a state of invincible ignorance. However, there are limits to invincible ignorance. Some grave sins are so severe that they cannot be mistaken by a sincere conscience for morally permissible acts. In all cases, God is the judge over each person and their conscience." Therefore, since God alone is the Judge over each person and their conscience, we are called by God to refrain from judgement and to love and welcome all without distinction including any sort judgement of them on a personal level. If I have negative feelings of anger, resentment, indignation etc., then I have problems that are mine to overcome and there the wooden beam in my own eye. ..................(Luke 6:42 "42 How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye." Vatican Bible Online)........ ......I am still trying anyway to remove the huge wooden beam in my own eyes, splinter by tiny splinter. James Chapter 2: 8 However, if you fulfill the royal 4 law according to the scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.10 For whoever keeps the whole law, but falls short in one particular, has become guilty in respect to all of it. 11 For he who said, "You shall not commit adultery," also said, "You shall not kill." Even if you do not commit adultery but kill, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as people who will be judged by the law of freedom. 5 13 For the judgment is merciless to one who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
