OnlySunshine
I saw a gastroenterologist this week on the referral from my PCD about my fatty liver and to figure out why I'm having abdominal pain, fullness, and pressure. He reviewed my chart, including my lab results and ultrasound, and concluded that the fatty liver is simply a coincidence since high cholesterol runs in my family AND I lost 30 lbs in the past year. He palpated my abdomen and said that my liver is not enlarged because he cannot feel the borders. Because he could not determine why I was having pain, he is testing me for 2 problems - gallbladder disease and stomach ulcers. He thinks that, even though no stones showed up in the ultrasound, they could either be too small and/or my gallbladder is inflammed. He wants me to have 2 scans done - an upper GI endoscopy and a HIDA scan (with hormone). The endoscopy is scheduled for Monday and I have to take the day off due to anesthesia. The HIDA scan has yet to be scheduled. My money is on the gallbladder and I will most likely have to have a cholecystectomy after all. Please say some prayers that a definitive diagnosis can be made soon and treatment can start.
