Maggyie
I'm so upset. Bit all over. The bug man is coming later today so I haven't confirmed, but I'm pretty sure we're in trouble here has anyone else dealt with this?
FilleDeStFrancois
HUGS! That is miserable. I am so sorry!
Pia Jesu
Yes, much sympathy! Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rwn4aDsOqNU During my travels, I stay at motels--and use a cedar oil spray on the areas noted in the YouTube video. It's also interesting to see where the bugs like to "hang out" (ie: wall cavities behind switch plates/plugs!). Just be careful that the exterminator doesn't turn your home into what the video calls a "hazmat zone!" Having a beagle named "Sara" would help, too! Hang in there! Era Might
Hide yo kids hide yo wife cuz bed bugs is biting everybody up in here. It's psychological warfare. Throw out your mattress. Edited June 9, 2016 by Era Might
Maggyie
This on top of the RAT that visited my kitchen in early spring, and the yearly return of the carpenter bees... I hate nature. I have an urge to throw everything out but I can't because of my 6 month old baby. So far no bites on her thank God. Pray they stick to feasting on me. Pia Jesu
Yeow...so much for the term "Mother Nature!" An old-school exterminator once told me to be aggressively proactive in controlling the little 'varmits before resorting to potentially toxic/dangerous pesticides. Eliminate food sources (inside & outside the home), seal up foundation cracks and gaps, eliminate ground cover near the house, use kid/pet friendly special bait traps, lights, zappers, plug-in ultrasonic devices (inside) and, of course, essential oils like cedar, peppermint (proven in my case!), lemongrass, etc. Again, good luck! Anomaly
I would be especially concerned with a child. Around here in Fla, orange oil is used successfully to treat for termite infestations and is much safer for humans. That may be a safe option to research. Maggyie
The bug man (er, woman) told me I'm wrong and we don't have bed bugs. Not sure what's eating me and leaving quarter sized bites on me at night!!
franciscanheart
Skeeters? Also, @Anomaly: What's this about orange oil?
dUSt
I don't know about bed bugs but gnats seem to be way worse this year in TX than any year I can remember.
CatherineM
I heard that some universities have twin bed sized microwave ovens for dorm beds.

Anomaly
Lovely. We have biiting insects, birds, reptiles, and fish. Where will you be vacationing? Avon skin so soft is a good mosquitos repellant. Check if it's safe for the little one. And don't forget sunscreen. We have lots of AC too!
