Catholicism Series with Bishop Barron: DVD, Blu-Ray or Digital?

The Blu-Ray set is $87: http://amzn.to/1PkuCsX

The DVD set is $65: http://amzn.to/283yepp

The digital season (SD) is $72: http://amzn.to/1O5K6As

Has anyone seen the blu-ray version? Is the quality noticeably better than the DVD version? Is the DVD version in HD? Is the digital "SD" version 720p? I want to watch this series with the family but unsure of which version to buy. I am one of those annoying people who can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p--but if the blu-ray is simply "upconverting" the same quality from the DVD/digital to blu-ray, I'll just go with convenience and get the digital format.

I watched the first episode of this with some friends last year. I think they had the DVD format so I can't help you there, but it looked great to me (forgive me, it was months ago but I am almost positive it was in HD). I remember thinking it was very high quality and I wished I was able to watch more because it was so interesting and well-done.

If it were me, I think I'd go with the DVD set for a few reasons. First, it's the cheapest and I always spend the lowest amount possible when I can. Second, I personally thought the DVD version was exceptional quality. Thirdly, I enjoyed it because it was not only visually pleasing, but mentally stimulating and I'm not the pickiest person when it comes to HD resolution. But again, I was rather impressed with the DVD set's high quality.

I have the blue ray set. It is good but a little glitchy. I dunno how the technology works but I wonder if they transferred it to blue ray OK. Skips more than my  other blue ray stuff. . .

Maybe I just got a bad set though.

I have the Blu-ray set too. It's great and looks 1080p to me.  I'm pretty sure that the series was actually shot in HD.

Considering that I bought the Blu-ray after it came out for about $100+, I would say definitely buy that one. And it's worth the investment for sure.

I have an unused DVD set Brandon Vogt sent me as a gift, but I'm a selfish person, so I won't send it to you. :|

You will rue these words one day when I claim my rightful place as Pope and instate @Hasan as webmaster and overlord of Phatmass.

May God then shower upon you an abundance of mercy, for you shall find none from Hasan.

Credo in Deum

I streamed it using the amazon prime app on our Blu-ray player. It wasn't a bad series, but I don't think it's worth those prices.

Don't listen to the naysayer above. Absolutely stellar series. I'd honestly pay $300 for it. Considering how expensive it is to film documentaries like this, its actual price is really generous.

I wonder if they will ever work out a deal to put it on Netflix or Hulu. It seems like it would reach the most people that way--like, the people who are not already in the choir.

That would be pretty amesome. I know that PBS aired 3 or 4 of the episodes, but even PBS has a limited audience compared to Netflix.
