As for Europe: Depending on what you're interested in doing, I recommend Madrid (for the people), Berlin (for the history), and Norway (for the nature). Interestingly enough, I have next to zero interest in Spain. I'd go if it were a free trip, but I wouldn't spend money on it. For whatever reason I've just never found the history or the culture in any way interesting.

Ancient Roman province, birthplace of Roman Emperors and poets, vital center of early Christianity, mother of the language and culture of entire continents, womb of Catholic mysticism, historical giant that looms over modern history, border of Christianity and Islam, beautiful and varied natural landscape, capital of the soccer world, origin of Don Quixote and other canonical art of civilization, eater of great food, plus, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! (Also, bullfights). Edited April 26, 2016 by Era Might
Basilisa Marie
I loved Salzburg. If you can make it to a concentration camp, it's a really, really powerful experience. I spent a day at Dachau. Wherever you go, eat lots of gelato.

That's how I feel about Latin America, so I understand. But really: Spaniards are the best people in the world. There is absolutely nothing not to love about them. 4 hours ago, Era Might said: Ancient Roman province, birthplace of Roman Emperors and poets, vital center of early Christianity, mother of the language and culture of entire continents, womb of Catholic mysticism, historical giant that looms over modern history, border of Christianity and Islam, beautiful and varied natural landscape, capital of the soccer world, origin of Don Quixote and other canonical art of civilization, eater of great food, plus, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Fr. Antony Maria OSB
PhuturePriest, Congratulations both on being accepted into seminary for your diocese and for being accepted to UD! That is wonderful news! I went to UD as an undergrad (not in the seminary, although I had a good amount of interaction with the seminarians as a philosophy major who took a lot of theology classes ), so if you have any questions about what to expect, don't hesitate to ask! I will tell you this right off the bat, though: yes, the classes are challenging, but you can get through it. If you need help (or expect you might), head up to Campus Ministry, and they'll help you out in any way they can (I worked there during my tenure as a student: wonderful people ). It's also just a cool place to hang out. Congratulations, again, and I'll be praying for you as you begin this wonderful journey!

You will always have a bed and (lot of) food in Spain and in the French spanish community
