Not A Real Name
I used to wonder if I mattered to God since I'm so small in comparrison to the universe itself, but then I asked the question: how big would we have to be in order for God to be concerned with us? Plus what isn't small compared to God? I've concluded that my sizs isn't what makes me important to God, it's my soul; His image. Because I have a soul I can hold the entire universe in my mind, like how God holds all things inside Himself.
Guest
Nehemiah 9:6 You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. Edited April 12, 2016 by Guest

This is really interesting. I've been reading theories about this that say this is actually happening. That we carry the universe like a turtle carries it's shell. The universe is a construct of the human mind and soul. Edited April 12, 2016 by Guest

I know the Bible compares us to dust but these thoughts make me question God's existence and it happens always in the middle of the night upon waking up. It's like I'm flooded with these intense thoughts as soon as I wake up not something I wake up and start gradually thinking about. Not sure where I'm going with this thread but just wanted to share. You're right there is a definite connection between marijuana and paranoia. It definitely used to increase my anxiety.

Guest
Latest News: By pushing NASA's Hubble Space Telescope to its limits, an international team of astronomers has shattered the cosmic distance record by measuring the farthest galaxy ever seen in the universe. This surprisingly bright, infant galaxy, named GN-z11, is seen as it was 13.4 billion years in the past, just 400 million years after the big bang. "This is an extraordinary accomplishment for Hubble. It managed to beat all the previous distance records held for years by much larger ground-based telescopes," said investigator Pieter van Dokkum of Yale University. "This new record will likely stand until the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope." http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/2016/07/

Ahhh yes...I've been trudging down the bumpy road of anxiety/insomnia for the past year! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been a huge help. No psychiatric drugs...just simple techniques to deal with those moments of dread. You also might want to look at a homeopathic remedy called Hyland's Calm (which contains chamomile, hops [present in my favorite brews!], Passion Flower, etc.). Try being a bit proactive! Before heading to bed, I bless myself with Holy Water, call on my Guardian Angel to be "on guard," take 1-2 Calms pills, and do some deepbreathing exercises. If a nocturnal panic attack sneaks in--I repeat the process. In one of Meister Eckhart's sermons, he said that "What used to be a hindrance now helps you most." Sure...it would be great if our anxiety attacks would simply disappear, but I've read (and forgive me for not remembering the source) that if it occurs--look right at it (name it) until you can look straight through it. It will pass. Existential angst is part of the human condition. Pax...

Norseman82
Josh, If you are really into how astrophysics and faith go together, you'll be happy to know that the rector of St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein (Archdiocese of Chicago), Fr. John Kartje, holds a doctorate in astrophysics and incorporates this background into his talks. http://www.vofoundation.org/blog/fr-john-kartje-astrophysicist-priest-biblical-scholar-lover-jesus-christ/ http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/rev-john-francis-kartje-named-as-rector--president-of-the-university-of-saint-mary-of-the-lake--mundelein-seminary-300134873.html
