EmmaElizabeth
My fiancé and I are looking to get married next year, 2017. We are newly engaged and my fiancé has been attending Sunday Mass with my family since December. Our parish priest is not a people person and is not very friendly. He is incredibly intelligent, but just does not know how to deal with people. Lots of couples I know from our parish have gotten married at alternative churches to avoid dealing with our pastor. I would really love to get married at our parish as I have been attending there for over 18 years. My question is how should I approach our pastor? This may sound like a silly question, but I am terrified of speaking with him. Thanks for any input - I really appreciate it! God bless!
Nihil Obstat
Ultimately it is your pastor's job to prepare you for marriage. You are not imposing by asking him. I would recommend that you start by calling the parish office and asking how to enroll in marriage prep. That gets the ball rolling. But do not be afraid to approach the priest directly. Like I said, this is his job.

TheresaThoma
Definitely call the parish office. I have found that most of the secretaries that work in parish offices know how to handle the "quirks" of their pastors very well! They are excellent guides. There is an abbe' (brother) who is the secretary, so hopefully he will be able to help me!!
