Guest
So I want him to intercede to help cure my sister in law of POTS Syndrome. Do I just ask him or? Pray a Rosary to him? Is there a set way when we pray to Saints? This is my first time. Edited February 28, 2016 by Guest
Guest
All I find when I search Catholic pages is stuff defending praying to Saints. This is from a wikiHow page How to Pray to a Saint : Have you ever been fascinated by the saints, historical Christian figures that are believed to have lived exceptionally holy lives? Have you ever wondered if they play a role in your life? If so, this article is meant for you. Steps 1 Read the Life of the particular Saint. The story of their life can be found in books, and they can be found online as well. Some of the most famous saints (the Virgin Mary, the Archangel Michael, etc) can be found almost anywhere, while many saints are much more obscure. 2 Follow Your Usual Prayer Ritual.Simply because you are asking for a Saint's prayers doesn't mean that you have to change the way you are used to praying. Pray however you wish. 3 Be Calm and Focused. Any prayer without these qualities isn't very helpful, either for you or for whoever you might be praying for. 4 Say the Prayer. It can be either written or in your own words, whichever you prefer. It can be as simple or as grand as you wish. The point is that the prayer should be your own. 5 Conclude the Prayer. This can be done with a simple 'Amen', making the Sign of the Cross, or whichever method you are used to. Luigi
I don't pray to the saints so much as I ask them to pray with me. (The devil is always in the details, and prepositions are the details of English.) So if I were you, I would start with a sign of the cross, and then say something like "St. Hugh come to my assistance. Pray with me on behalf of my sister NAME who has POTS syndrome." Say your regular prayers as usual. At the end, I always ask the saint to continue my prayers after I've gone to work (or sleep, or whatever). If you read prayers to saints, you'll see phrases like 'intercede on my behalf' (or on your sister's behalf), 'obtain for me the grace to X-Y-Z,' (which you can customize to 'obtain for Suzette a cure for POTS), or 'commend Suzette to almighty God.' You can try any of those. I would also end my prayer by thanking St. Hugh for praying with you.
