What kind of gun should I get?

Edc or home defense? Edc, Glock 19. Or smaller if you are so inclined. The 26 I think is the 9mm subcompact. Home defense, Remington 870, Mossberg 500, or a carbine length AR15.

Thanks for the recommendations. Will research a little and go with one of these. Only for home defense now because of laws where I'm at. Although would prefer to Edc and will when I can by law.

Most people say 12ga shotgun for home defense. Remington 870 is easily modifiable and I believe there should be several shorter barrelled variants, down to whatever is the minimum allowed wherever you are. You could put a light on it, stuff like that. I would recommend against a pistol grip with no stock, because if there is no stock you will probably smack yourself in the face. :)

I.E. set it up more like this:

And less like this:

There is debate on whether or not a rifle is ideal for home defense. Lot of variables there, and I am not really qualified to give you a meaningful opinion. I would be willing to argue that a large part of it comes down to how comfortable you are using it. A shotgun is a bit simpler than an AR15. You also have to consider the possibility of overpenetration with a rifle, so carefully consider your environment.

Fusil de Chasse (Tulle replica)

You can load it with shot or ball. And if you need to you can use it at a club.

I'm only half kidding

Good points.

There is the school of thought that a carbine AR is better than a handgun for home defense because of the abilty to have more control and accuracy, especially in high stress situation. Shotguns are also thought of a better option for the same reason.

I personally feel more secure using a long gun than a pistol, but it all comes down to training, practice and what you are comfortable shooting.

Just on a personal level, I love rifles. :) In the next few years I hope to have the disposable income to build an AR.

No kidding. I bet there are at least three or four more things too!

I'd get a biggun (<not a typo; say it out loud) if I weren't afraid that, when I get mad, I'd start going postal on people.

:(

Better that I remain unarmed, really.

I'm a fan of the Ruger 10/22. Good target rifle because ammo is cheaper and you can defend your home with less chance of actually killing an intruder.

Yeah that's definitely something I worry about. Hopefully my mental health doesn't deteriorate to that point. As crazy as the world is/is getting I think I'm a fool not to be armed. I don't trust people anymore.

Make sure there is someone you trust who can take them from you for a while if your mental health becomes compromised.
