An Old School Catholic Message Board

Deep down you know that Obama was a good President and all the hysteria here in 2007/2008 by the likes of Socrates and KoC looks even more absurd than it did at the time.

Did he not do essentially every single thing conservatives were worried that he would do?

Not even close. No FEMA concentration camps. No single payer. Didn't nationalize large sectors of the economy. Didn't outlaw Christianity. Was a pretty good and moderate President. Only drawback was that he couldn't or didn't do enough to roll back the security state that Bush established after 9/11.

Ok, the conservatives who had some sort of grounding in reality. You know, the real ones. Not the ones on Facebook.

I'm referencing stuff that was going around here at the time. All kind of craziness about how Obama was basically one step below the devil himself. Not even close to that. Of course, the windbags who peddled it will never own up to it. But I have a good memory. So at least I can savor their deep down shame. Yummy!

Honestly, too bad about the no single payer. He woulda if he coulda though.

On the other hand he did try to force nuns to pay for birth control before Joe Biden stepped in and was like "uh, mistake". so, creepy.

I would say that he was a good president. His main failing is that he is not Catholic.

Please describe your criteria for a good president?

I can't say I have a definite set of criteria in mind. I would say someone who faithfully carries out his duties with the best of the country in mind, and someone who leaves the country better off when he leaves than it was before he became president.

Is that a rhetorical question?

I am not an Obama hater. I think he did a good job considering the circumstances he was presented with, although I think he made some mistakes and there are areas where I disagree with him.

But no, he did not lead us to the land of milk and honey if that is what you require.

And what circumstances were those?

and please, can you tell me more about this milk and honey?

I respectfully decline to answer either of those questions.
