Luigi
From St. Bernard Abbey in Cullman Alabama. They do a lot of baking there. St. Bernard Abbey 12 hrs · In preparation for Mardi Gras, here are the official Church blessings for pastries and lard! BLESSING OF LARD* P: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who made heaven and earth.P: The Lord be with you. All: May He also be with you. Let us pray. Lord, bless + this creature, lard, and let it be a healthful food for mankind. Grant that everyone who eats it with thanksgiving to your holy name may find it a help in body and in soul; through Christ our Lord. All: Amen. It is sprinkled with holy water. BLESSING OF BREAD AND PASTRIES P: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who made heaven and earth. P: The Lord be with you. All: May He also be with you. Let us pray. Lord Jesus Christ, bread of angels, living bread for everlasting life, bless + this bread as you once blessed the five loaves in the wilderness; so that all who eat it reverently may thereby obtain the health they desire for body and soul. We ask this of you who live and reign forever and ever. All: Amen. It is sprinkled with holy water. *In my neck of the woods, the pronunciation of Lord is often the same as that of LARD. So we sometimes hear "God come to my assistance; LARD make haste to help me" or "How long, oh LARD, how long?"
Gabriela
The 1962 Missal has a "Blessing of Eggs". So I find this unsurprising.

MarysLittleFlower
Haha :D apparently in the FSSP seminary they get permission to bless certain things as they progress. I never heard of lard though Edited February 11, 2016 by MarysLittleFlower

Probably St. Anthony Of Egypt (the desert father) - he's always shown with a pig at his feet. But for you cooks, pastry chefs, wait staff, etc. out there, here's a link to a page by Loyola Press about patron saints of the culinary arts : http://www.loyolapress.com/the-patron-saints-of-the-culinary-arts.htm

I never heard of lard though I remember when I lived in NYC, the seminarians who were acolytes could bless fruit and nuts. They were not FSSP, just regular diocesan seminarians. I thought that was kind a little weird, probably a carryover from something, it would be fun to know the history on this.
Nihil Obstat
Likely related to the progression through minor orders, which the fssp continue to practice. For a diocesan seminary it would be a holdover in that case.
