Luigi
Subiaco Benedictine Abbey, in Subiaco, Arkansas - they run a boys' school, offer retreats, have a farm, and do other stuff, too - like staff parishes. "Novice Clifford Heyer professed first vows on February 2, 2016. He's now Br. Raban Heyer, OSB." They've got 40 monks (including the new guy) in vows, plus two novices. So a grand total of 42 monks. Of those, 17 (40%) have joined since 2000. They seem to be thriving.
Luigi
########### From St. Procopius Abbey in Lisle, IL: "We are happy to have welcomed today [Wednesday, 02-17-116] Ken Preston and Mark Karmia, who entered the monastery and began the first stage of formation, called the postulancy. Please keep Mark and Ken in your prayers. In the photo, Abbot Austin is receiving the two men and presenting them with an icon of the Most Holy Mother of God as their model of prayer and special intercessor." From Newark Abbey in Newark, NJ: Last Tuesday [02-10-16], after Mass and just before the monks began their Mardi Gras celebration, postulant Simon Clayton began his novitiate. He took the name Br. Simon Peter. He is shown receiving a copy of the Rule of Benedict from Abbot Melvin Valvano. ########## From St. Anselm Abbey in New Hampshire: Earlier today [01-15-16], Ryan McCarty, class of 2010 [the monks runs St. Anselm College], began his novitiate here at Saint Anselm Abbey. The abbot gave him the religious name, Brother Francis. Father Peter Guerin, OSB will be the Novice Master.
