Teaching

My university has just thrown a teaching assignment at me with one week's notice. I am now required to teach a course on Thursday afternoons. I don't know the course (it's new) and I've not even seen the syllabus yet. As the terms of my studentship include some teaching, I'm not well placed to complain, but the short notice is irritating and unhelpful. The course convener seemed to resent it when I explained I will not be on campus on every Thursday this semester, as I have scheduled things without knowing I would be occupied, and told me to make sure I rearranged those classes. Please pray I can give good classes and I will also be able to juggle them with my job - I am going to have to ask my workplace not to allocate me to Thursday shifts.
