MarysLittleFlower
There's a certain intimacy in personal conversations etc and I feel more comfortable having that only with women because it won't become romantic for me. I'm not sure why this sort of view is sometimes held as puritanical... Its just based on experience. But I agree with many other points. Any thoughts on that? One other way I relate this topic is actually to the spiritual life. A persons relationship with Jesus can be highly emotional even passionately expressed but pure. Today people seem to think that anything so expressive can't be pure but this is a clear exception. I read in a book about mental prayer that for many - affective prayer almost sounds spousal in a way. Its just the closeness of the relationship. How much closer can you get than with Jesus?? Also I read some prayer experiences from a holy Mexican Archbishop - Archbishop Martinez - amazing and beautiful and he uses very expressive language to Our Lord. It was so beautiful and moving to read. This sort of language the Saints use too is almost like being in love but a pure love - very intimate, but pure. I find this is something that the world would have a hard time understanding. Just a further thought from the article
little2add
Barbie is 57-years-old, Mattel has updated the doll, funny thing is the doll doesn't look anywhere near that old... Kind of weird, actually, how beauty is defined by our culture, i would think that a barbie doll that looks like your grandmother would be very popular??? http://www.barbie.com/en-us
