qfnol31
Don't trust everything from the Dallas Morning News. Though not that bad (excellent comics section!), they do tend somewhat towards the liberal side...
Quietfire
Maybe this isnt the time or thread to bring this up, but HBO plans on releasing on June 28th, an 'American Undercover' series on Celebacy and the Catholic Church. Has anyone heard about this? I for one am very interested. I know celebacy is a choice. In the sense that if one chooses to become a priest then one also chooses celebacy. There are, of course, other options to serve the church if celebacy is not an 'option' for some. But what struck me as odd, is in some of the clips, it seemed that the priests were expressing that it was a forced choice. And that bothered me. Only because they seemed to misrepresent the fact, just as so many others have. I realize that this may have nothing to do with this thread, and I know we have discussed the issue of celebacy before, but I really wanted to inform everyone about this upcoming 'report' on HBO. It bothers me because I think it may be misrepresenting the truth. Please watch for it. Peace.

cmotherofpirl
True PedroX. Right now our diocese is being sued again be people claiming to have been molested 40 years ago by priests dead 30 years ago. So I have a built in bias against such stuiff, and got disgusted and didn't read the entire article. Bishop Sheen said if we didn't cleaning up the Church, the Holy Spirit would. He was a definite prophet.
daugher-of-Mary
Kindly remember accused does NOT mean guilty.
Amen, amen! Three priests from my diocese were accused of scandal last year by a man who was mentally disabled. They were all acquitted, but went through a year of hell...weren't allowed to celebrate public Mass, etc. Even now, they don't have it easy. Gossip does A LOT of harm even for these poor men who were found not guilty.
the lumberjack
Don Bosco...help us. Could he mean this? I'm not critiquing the majesterium or anything, just wondering what the Catholic Church has to say about this. OH, AND BY THE WAY, I'M GETTING A TSHIRT WITH THAT COOL RED WRITING ABOVE MY TITLE. CatholicAndFanatical
I heard something about this on another forum, plus on the News (foxnews of course) Looks like some of the Bishops didnt take Cardinal Ratzingers paper on how to treat Pro-Death Politicians very seriously and just disregarded it. One Bishop said that he listens to Rome and not Him. I'll find the story and post it here. On my website, I have a section for corrupt Churchs and Clergy. I think its time to stand up and clean out the mediocrity thats in our Church. I get so upset when I hear of things like this but theres not much that I can do alone. So on my site I ask for peoples help in reporting. Hammering the Bishops, Priests and even the Papal Nuncio with phone calls, letters, and emails to get it changed. All else fails, we'll boycott the corrupt Church and stop tithing. It was Pope Paul IV who said "The Smoke of Satan has entered the Church" He was right. Its time to Stand Up!! I know its important to defend our Church from corrupt and often misguided non-Catholics, but we need to clean house first. The Bishops and Priests are too scared to do it, its up to us laymen to do it. For example there is a Church ran by the Jesuits in Boston that holds a 'Gay Mass' and they also participate in the Gay Pride march, having CATHOLIC banners in this march and everything. Its sickening. No one is doing anything about it, they just set back. Jesus turned over tables and was angry at them and casted them out of the temple because they were corrupting it. Righteous Anger.. Wheres ours? Its time to stand up. God Bless
