popestpiusx
Finally, is it just me, or does PSPX bring to mind Archie Bunker. We have a queen of Phatmass, let's make PSPX the "Archie Bunker of Phatmass". Sorry PSPX, I couldn't resist. I guess this would only work if we made Icobus "Meathead".
Now that is funny. I humbly accept the nomination.
popestpiusx
PSPX... thats disgustingly racist. These are extremists, and don't even account for 1 percent of all Muslims. If a Catholic terrorist group began beheading people, would you crusade against Catholics? I wouldn't considering I'd think hmmm these people aren't representative of all faithful and even unfaithful Catholics so why should I go after all of my fellow Catholics? If you are saying lets go on a Crusade against these terrorists/extremists, thats a different thing. Peace, Rich
These guys are not extremists. They are orthodox muslims. Islam has been a terrorist organization since it's founding by Mohammed 1600 years ago. It was founded as a violent religion and has been ever since. Don't believe me? Study some history. The nonviolent version of Islam is greatly liberalized and does not reflect true Islam. If that is racist (which as thicke pointed out, it is not) or bigoted, well, so be it. If pointing out historical truth is now labeled "bigoted" even by Catholics, then we are facing sad days. That being said, I am not suggesting that we go out and start wacking random muslims. A crusade is a war, declared by duley appointed authorities (Pope, King of France, Spain, Lichtenstein, Athanasia) with some ultimate purpose in mind (defending the Christians from the muslims). If a crusade was called (and it was called under a Catholic flag) I would go. No question.

ryanmeyersmusic
actually most of the crusades were about taking back jerusalem... also, your reasoning goes pretty much completely against the just war criteria so it's in direct opposition to Catholic moral teaching... socalscout
Now Now let cooler heads prevail. As much as I would like to see a nice .223 size piercing in the middle of their foreheads I must ask what Christ would want. I think he would much rather us pray that they repent from their sins(even though they probably do not think they are sinning) than for them to pay for them. I'll pray either way.
Why were they taking back Jerusalem? Because the Christians were being killed off, the Churches destroyed and pilaged. Ergo, the end of the Crusades was the protection of Christians (and Christian places and things, i.e. Churches, relics etc.). I find your last point quite interesting as I didn't give much reasoning. I'm not sure what you are referring to. Can you please explain?

The 1st Crusades were to take back the Holy Land. Christians were being deyened access and being chased out. However the latter Crusades became a lot about profit. The Turks charged HIGH dutys on goods passing through the Middle East.
Apollo
I am not going to pretend that I now much about the Islamic religion. But maybe this link written by a friend of mine here at my University will help clear a few things up.
Islam is often thought of as a religion which encourages terrorism and killing, and we want to show those who are ignorant enough to believe so how mistaken they are.
- The Muslim Student Association at Trinity University Click here to read more about them on their webpage. I am not saying that this is an infallible source of information, but I have no reason to believe what they are saying is false, or that I know more about their faith than they do. BeenaBobba
I said a prayer for him yesterday, and shortly afterwards, I found out that he was already beheaded. :-( I'll say a prayer for him again. May he rest in peace. God bless, Jen
