How People Get Banned From Phatmass
And why not?

Are Catholics not permitted to question things about their own Faith?
Of course they are. You've been around long enough to know that.
If not, then how will they grow in understanding?
Seems to me someone may have misinterpretted morphRC's intent in his posts.
Maybe. That's why they're called "warnings". The aim is to help Morph understand what is and isn't allowed here. In both cases he was critisizing the current magisterium.
Perhaps if his questions had been answered rather than having been smacked with a warning, he might not be experiencing a crisis in his faith.
The times he received warning were not because of questions, but rather, unneccesary comments.
Likos also received an unjust warning.  It was deemed a personal attack, but it wasn't an attack at all.
I was the one who personally warned him, and it was a personal attack--as he even admitted as much in his reply back to me.

Yes I was critizing the current mag. because i felt and saw that there were changes, and i wanted to address them, so I posted statements by the Church, which ended up making the current mag. look bad in ur eyes, which makes me the enemy, even thou I USED the Church itself.

Man... this again? lol I don't know why I'm even bothering to post this....

I was one of the two who edited and warned Morph's posts. I did not delete the whole thing, just the couple sentances which were negatively (as opposed to constructively) criticizing the Pope and current Magisterium. The part I deleted wasn't a question about the Faith but a put-down on the Magisterium. I edited it because he said he was Catholic (although a couple posts later he then said he was a Traditionalist, and is now ???? ) and we all know (or should know) the phorum guidelines and standards to which we are held. I know exactly what I edited because I included it in the warn log so that any other mods who may need to check will know exactly what I warned for (even if Al can't see it I can).

I am sorry that Morph is experiencing a crisis in faith but something tells me its not just because I edited a couple lines in his post.

Justified Saint

I think Bruce's ban would be in the obvious.

I think PM needs a new group title: "Theological Trolls"

They were statements by the Church. I got warned for putting them in my own words. Which now is ok according to this thread.
(although a couple posts later he then said he was a Traditionalist, and is now ???? )
Couple weeks later I was. Then I finally came to the conclusion that im unhappy in christianity, hence rebuking it, and actually feeling much better, especially since studying eastern religions. I was a Semi_Trad. I was on edge about VII for over 8 months. So it wasnt over 2 posts.

Yes please post them publicly, I remember what I said and what I stated, so Ill be vigilent for any 'corrections'.

I am sorry, I will not publicly post what I edited off. I took it off for a reason. Your own words were disrespectful to the Pope the quotes from past Popes were not, if you recall I did leave the quotes posted.

I will, however, be praying for you.

God Bless!

No, I didn't think it was a personal attack. It was, however, biting satire (and clever, I thought) answering Mulls' interpretation of baptism (water and the Spirit, John 3:5) as amniotic fluid. I thought it was rather well written, actually. But I did admit to dUSt that I might have toned it down if I'd thought it over before I posted it. But dUSt has the right to warn me about anything I post, and he exercised that right. And I exercised mine to get outta Dodge. Nobody where I'm posting now has found anything (yet) to complain about in my writing -- or if they have, they're keeping quiet about it -- whereas at phatmass someone was always reminding me to "play nice." Conclusion: my writing style is apparently not compatible with the phatmass philosophy. I'm surprised I was here so long -- since January, 2002 (I think). I do tend to take the shortest distance between two points, and some see that as confrontational. And that's okay.

Just want to share with you that the Tridentine Latin Mass is now being offered in Phoenix. Can you imagine -- no EM's, no lectors, no lay people swarming all over the sanctuary, no hand holding, no musical "performances" (the organ has been moved back into the choir loft where it belongs), priest's and altar boys (no girls) genuflecting instead of nodding to the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Communion received kneeling, no chit-chat, no gym and swim clothes, utter reverence. I'd almost forgotten what the experience of intense worship of the Almighty Transcendent God can mean to one's spiritual life. It's sublime. It's hard to stop the tears in the midst of such awesome beauty.

Christ's peace and love to you all,

Affectionately, Jay (Industrial-Strength Catholic ;)).

P.S. I'm not shadowing the threads at phatmass; Anna sent this to me :D
I still believe that phatmass is one of the best discussion boards on the Net, and dUSt is a hero for providing it. He does a great job. Hooray for dUSt, #1 webmaster and administrator.

I will say a prayer for you, Morph. I'll pray that God will lead you into orthodox Catholicism.

God bless,

Jen

Gee, let's not get too sensitive.

As nice as I am, I've been warned (or edited) a half dozen times over the years. I get over it in a few days. What's worse, is that a few weeks later I recall what I posted and feel really bad. Other times, I wish I had said something when I though other people were being even worse. That's why I'm not a mod. :P Give the mods and dUSt a break. They do the best they can. After a few years, being exposed to a number of different sincere (and strong) personalities, you'll appreciate the tough row they have to hoe.
