Basilisa Marie
Yeah, I'm thinking more along the lines of if someone is scrupulous and doesn't remember every particular instance of a mortal sin, they're better off saying "about x amount of times" and moving on. Someone who says "I fornicated nine times" but remembers a tenth can confess it, but that's different from getting nervous forgetting to include "I fornicated" altogether. I was taught the "confess every mortal sin" is, generally speaking, more like the latter than the former. Someone who is more cavalier with their sin and not careful about examining their conscience would do well to be extra sure each one is confessed. But someone who struggles with scrupulousity and the efficacy of the sacrament is better off moving on.
