We have some converts and reverts here, too, that could answer your question from their old mindset. So just ask!

Reason is undeniable and supernatural in the sense that to an athiest and anyone for that matter sometimes reason comes from whence we know not and can not explain. It's a heart thing. The heart is definitely supernatural.

I want to ask an atheist how they deal with the paranormal. I have a specific experience I want to tell them about and I'm curious what their response is dealing with it. I think if it's established the paranormal/supernatural exist that likely leads to the conclusion there is a Higher Power/God.

Depending on what your experience is, you might not even need an atheist to answer it. Pious Catholics, and those of any faith for that matter, can and should be skeptical about supposed paranormal experiences. It takes a long time for a supposed miracle or apparition to become definitely recognized as such, and the faithful are continually counselled not to put their faith in such when there are cases of doubt, Medjugorje being a prime contemporary example of this. Then there are whole legions of supposed paranormal phenomena--UFOs, ghosts, ESP, etc.--that are generally irrelevant to our religious faith or otherwise the cause for silly superstitions.

I've have more than one experience but the particular one I want to present first is dealing with a ouija board. This was over 12 years ago and I would never touch one now because I believe it to be demonic. At the time I didn't view it that way although I was skeptical. I got talked into participating. Anyway I think my experience (and countless others) leads to the conclusion spirts/souls exist and therefore an atheist purely materialistic view on reality is wrong.

If I'm an atheist and come to the conclusion these experiences are authentic or may be that forces me to reevaluate everything. It's the first step. An atheist says nothing like this can exist or happen. My own personal experiences shows their wrong. Once it's established spirits actually exist the next likely assumption is God exist along with Satan.

So, what is your objective then? Are you looking to debate a skeptic? Because (just to cite a long-held personal opinion of mine) believers angling for debates with skeptics, often with the understated aim of attempting to proselytize them, have probably done more harm to our faith than good--particularly in the mind of the debate partner--and in general tend to cheapen religious discourse by reducing its purview to a merely empirical focus.

No just have an interesting discussion. I like atheist/agnostics. Usually more than most Catholic/Christians. Especially the ones who are more Catholic than the Pope. I'm not here to offend agnostics/atheist or try to come off as I have all the answers. Just want to discuss experiences and what they might mean.

Good advice.  My old mindset would have likened Josh's thread to a person saying, "hello, I need to ask you a question about imaginary friends."  Not trying to be rude, but rather trying to help you understand Josh how your questions might appear to an atheist. In short, your personal experience with the paranormal- or what you interpreted as paranormal activity -wouldn't have made one bit difference in my disbelief.

Luckily I give not one single **** how my question may have affected you as an atheist lol Happy New Year !!!!!!! And if I was an atheist a lot of the stuff you post would make me run towards non Catholic Christianity so fast if I was ever considering Christianity. But I'm sure not a single **** is given by you how your post would affect me as an atheist. So it's all good in the hood. Peace.

Alright your video calmed me down. I don't get what you're saying tbh. If my original question was condescending or something like that I could see what you're saying. Although it it wasn't. It was an invitation to discuss an interesting topic. If I was an atheist/agnostic on a Catholic site "I" would want to discuss this type of thing because it's really interesting. I realize I'm not every agnostic/atheist though.

It's not that your question is condescending, but rather that it is not taking into account the persons disbelief and what is interesting according to them. This is why I used the imaginary friends remark, because to atheists God, angels, demons, ghosts, etc are viewed on the same plain as imaginary friends and the tooth fairy.  Now put yourself in their shoes.  If you did not believe in imaginary friends, but someone said they wanted to talk to you about their experiences with them, would you find that conversation interesting or appealing? Most people wouldn't and would dread it.

I had an odd feeling that this post would soon veer into uncharitability...

Nah, I didn't take Josh's remarks that way.
