Still, while I don't know anything about this other than what's written in the article, it might be "rescuing" insofar as the Church building will still be used as a Church. I think in Ireland, when religious communities pull out of a Church building that their community had formerly administered, often what happens is a private party will buy the building and convert it into something else (like apartments or a restaurant).
