Um, I thought I read that meatless Fridays were no longer "required", just "recommended"? Or maybe not even that...?

Please inform.

(or I could go look in the Catechism, too, 'cause it's probably in there...)

I'm SURE that bruce would LOVE to respond to this topic...and many others.

but it seems as if his debating here has sparked him to be banned YET AGAIN...

last time, it was for 3 weeks...

this time, its for a year.

thats pretty ridiculous.

I don't know how much longer I want to hang around here....

God bless.

lumberjack,
It's got to be obvious to you, the tone and technique of BruceS's posts that are mean-spirited, not intended to debate (but to only attack), dismissive of intelligent response, etc.

More Catholics have been banned that Prots, though BruceS has been banned 3 or 4 times. One gets banned for hatefullness, not for being sincerely and deeply committed to a differing opinion and vigorously supporting that opinion.

I hope you hang around here a long time, even if you disagree with us.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has ruled that it is highly recommended, but not strictly necessary.

and Icthus,

going off what you just said I would like to ask everyone here, what then, happens to all those catholics who ate meat before, when it WAS mandatory...I speak of the ones that died...

do they get a "get out of hell free" card or something?

since its now not MANDATORY, do they get afterlife pardons?

God bless

I'd like to address this statement by lumberjack:

"but it seems as if his debating here has sparked him to be banned YET AGAIN..."

This is untrue. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but allow me to clarify. Bruce's "debating" never so much as got him warned. It was his personal attacks that got him banned.

Please make this distinction, as I'd hate for you to be guilty of bearing false witness against this website. I've created a specific thread regarding Bruce's ban, so any other comments relating to this issue should be posted there.

God bless.
