Please do not go to see it! I work in a cinema and the past 2 days have been so exhausting- the stream of fans is never ending! Literally, ora pro nobis! ;)

I'd love to, but I feel like I would be lost. I want to find a way to start from the beginning if possible.

Watch it in the Machete Order: episodes IV, V, II, III, and VI.

It starts off with the first two original movies that were made - A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back - and fits in two of the recent, inferior prequels - Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith - without spoiling a major twist in Empire. Then it's all arounded off by the last of the Originals, Return of the Jedi.

so skip episode I? Lol I think that's the only one I've seen in full when I was 12 years old or something.

The Machete Order (the article of which contains many spoilers from the series) argues that Episode I is completely irrelevant. Not to mention, it's the most generally boring.

IDK I thought darth maul had some pretty dope make-up work. Again, I was a pre-teen. Errors in judgement were made at this stage in my life.

I liked Episode I when I was younger. I still do because of Darth Maul and Qui Gon (as well as Ewan McGregor, who in my estimation is often overlooked,) but you can't ignore some of the major issues of the movie.

I feel like I'm the only one in the universe (okay, the U.S. and Canada) who has no interest in seeing the new Star Wars movie. I remember seeing the first movie (that is IV) and the second, but it mattered so little that I can't remember if I saw the third movie or not.

This isn't surprising since, in general, I have never been a fan of science fiction in general--either in books or movies. There have been a few exceptions, but very few. I never read comic books, so I know nothing about all the movies based on comic books that are being released now. It's almost a good thing that I have a difficult time sitting still in a chair without pain for the length of a movie, because if I wanted to go to the movies, I'm not sure what other movies there would be to see. In the past year or so, I have watched a lot of movies on Netflix/Amazon/Hulu, but inevitably they are 5-10 years old, or if they are new, they are small, "indie" movies.

Obviously there must be other types of movies out there beyond science fiction/comic books, because those movies do not win Academy Awards. However, for the past few years, when I have read the nominees for Academy Awards, I usually haven't even heard of some of the movies. Thankfully, I don't feel a strong urge to go to the movies or to see movies that win big awards, because those movies don't usually show up on streaming services until a year or more after their release, unless they performed very badly at movie theaters despite their awards.

This morning, I went on various Web sites and read all the spoilers I could find for the new Star Wars movie, so that I won't be completely lost listening to conversations about Star Wars. (Don't worry, I won't mention any spoilers here.)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is not interested in seeing the new Star Wars movie, but right now I feel as if I am in a very small minority. The only good I can see with all the Star Wars hype is that, for a short time at least, it is "hip" to be a Star Wars nerd. I am all for supporting nerds, since I am one myself (just not a science fiction nerd).

May the dork be strong in all of you!
