MarysLittleFlower
Or those visiting! Notre Dame Cathedral in Ottawa has a holy door starting tomorrow for the Year of Mercy! Theres a plenary indulgence for making a pilgrimage, going through the door and saying the Creed under the usual conditions (Sacraments, prayer for the Holy Father, detachment from venial sin). Just wanted to let everyone know because holy doors aren't that common and Canada is getting it! :D yay!

The Holy Door in Notre Dame de Quebec is one of the 'officially' designated ones by Rome. Other dioceses I know of, have designated various parishes to have holy doors. CatherineM
The basilica in Edmonton does too. I had breakfast with the archbishop this morning and he was giddy at getting to open it.
PhuturePriest
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha Canadians aren't allowed to have a thread. This should be locked immediately. I'm sad to hear the Canadian dollar has finally gone down enough in value that Canadians have resorted to exchanging goods with tires.
Ice_nine
what does "detachment from venial sin" technically mean? I'm guessing it doesn't necessarily mean to be free from sin, because we're human and all that. Could probably google it but someone here must know. Im also guessing that next year will be the year of justice and the special door for that, when opened, will have a hockey like buzzer that will sound and you'll get a puck in the face. Amppax
I'd heard that a lot of diocese will have Holy Doors for the Jubilee Year. There are two in my diocese (I think however, that was a special exception because our diocese is large, at least area wise). One here in Steubenville, and another at the Basilica in Marietta.
