Gabriela
My family keeps asking me what I want for Christmas. I'd like a nice wall crucifix for my bedroom, but I'm kind of a snob when it comes to crucifix quality. Any recommendations?

Then ask for a gift certificate to Catholic Supply (or the Printery or wherever) and select your own. Better yet, tell your folks you want to make a date with them to drive to wherever - you pick the crucifix and they pay for it. You buy lunch. Turnabout's fair play. I don't really like the Byzantine style. I like plain, simple wooden crucifixes, but no so plain that it looks like two sticks or 2x4s crossed over each other. I always get upset about the detail in the face of Christ. It's usually so bad. Which is why I'm looking for something with really fine craftmanship. I'd say about 14" tall or more. It's to go over my bed. Doesn't need to be church size!
Nihil Obstat
I bought one of these recently: I also have a single wooden Benedictine crucifix, about the same size.

NadaTeTurbe
If I was rich, I would have this one : http://www.barroux.org/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1079&category_id=32&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=189 And if I was very rich, this one : http://www.boutiques-theophile.com/articles-religieux/objets-de-piete/croix/details_crucifix-en-bronze-emaille-sur-socle,3090.html But since I'm not rich, I'm like you, looking for a crucifix... Oh, I love the face of Christ in this one! Like Gabriela, I almost never like the way Christ is depicted, whether it's in icons or crucifixes or whatnot - there's always something juuust a little bit off about it. But this one - very moving! NadaTeTurbe
I bought the image of a crucifix who is in the refectory of the Sainte Scholastique abbey (Dourgne) : I was very moved by His face. The artist, Sister Mercédes, is amazing : http://www.encalcat.com/cartes-soeur-mercedes_319.php I have various postal cards from her that I use for my prayer. Luigi
I've seen some very nice crucifixes made of olive wood and hand-crafted in the holy land by Palestinian Christians. They've been struggling economically over there for years, and this is an effort to generate income. I'm not sure how to find them, though. When I first saw them, some Palestinian Christians came to our church, set up their wares out in the lobby, and made their sales pitch during the announcements after Communion. You might be able to find them somewhere online.

Is that from the Holy Land? If so, they something like that, only in a different color.
