[/quote] It doesn't really matter. There are different designs for the pictures on the scapulars, so there is no rule on which side goes where. The most simple scapular is just 2 rectangles of wool with no pictures on them connected by two cords. Mine has a picture of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel that I wear on my front and the text of her promise to those who wear the scapular that I wear on my back. Maddalena
I got a Scapular when I had my First Communion when I was 10 years old (I was in fourth grade when we became Catholic). I didn't know anything about it so when we moved a year and a half ago, I put it in storage. As I read the stuff y'all say about it, I realized I shouldn't have done this. I didn't sin horribly for doing that do I??? No one explained to us what a Scapular was when we got them....

Maddalena
*dies from relief* I just recently became better at being Catholic. I found of that free for Catholic site a Green Scapular but this thread says something about a Brown Scapular. I'm guessing it doesn't matter as long as it's a Scapular? if I got the one I found at free for Catholics, I'd need to have it blessed right? 1337 k4th0l1x0r
Maddalena: There are many different colors of scapulars and all are for some kind of religious dedication. The indulgences associated with each scapular is different and so are the colors and prayers you do with them. The green scapular is devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The green scapular is not the same as the brown scapular. There is also something called a fivefold scapular that combines 5 different scapulars into one. I may get this someday, but I'm going to look into it more. I definitely recommend getting a brown scapular. You may even find one for free at your parish. Oh, and make sure you're properly enrolled. If the priest doesn't place the scapular over you, you can be pretty sure he's not really enrolling you.
