Gabriela
But perhaps something in a profile, something that can be selected like gender or religion? Why not? Maybe you have to renew that part of your profile every 3 months. Maybe we can find a way to have prayer warriors that do make a commitment by self selecting, not by an "honor" bestowed by a computer metric. Okay. I can get behind that. Something that would be a personal commitment, but that would be public, so that a person can feel the pressure to pray more for Phatmassers, but it's self-selected. That's what you mean, right? Yep, that's a better idea. There's no fuzzy metric, no real impetus to do so other than a personal commitment.
Gabriela
Okay. @dUSt: What do you think of this? Meh?
IgnatiusofLoyola
When it comes to things like prayers or donations I lean toward "the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing." Sometimes I prop prayers and sometimes I don't and there is no rationale behind it. Part of it is that I have limited props so I tend to use them sparingly. I also don't read every single post title, so I might accidentally miss a prayer request. As a contrasting example, the "Church Militant" tag makes sense because it imparts useful information especially to visitors or new people, and I know that @dUSt is very careful about who gets and who keeps the Church Militant tag. However I can think of a couple of people who should have the "Church Militant" tag, but don't have it because they either don't post as often or are just quieter, more humble people. I suspect they don't care (or, at least I hope they don't care). If a frequent poster doesn't have the CM tag, I trust that @dUSt knows about it and there is a good reason. I think people who pray a lot for others are also the kind of people who don't need a lot of recognition for it--or maybe don't even want recognition. Plus, the tag imparts no useful information to visitors or new users. @Gabriela--Keep coming up with ideas, even if the group consensus isn't positive for all of them. New ideas get us thinking and talking about issues we might not have thought about before.
