Ice_nine
I know you all love a good litany or an eloquent prayer written by a saint toiling in the fields from the 1500's but seeing as I kind of smell of elderberries at praying I was hoping people could let me on some of their favorite prayers that aren't too hard to commit to memory. They can be to God, Mary, a saint (although if it's not one of the big ones maybe you could write a little descrip of who the saint is). The simpler the better! THanks. chrysostom
The Little Invocation of Mother Yvonne-Aimee de Jesus of Malestroit, originally from the 1920s. To be said morning and evening. Indulgenced by Pope St. John XXIII. "O Jesus, King of Love, I put my trust in thy merciful goodness." (or loving mercy.) I find this the sort of prayer I can just say over and over again without getting tired of it. More info at http://www.cenacleosb.org/rexamoris/ Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine. I love you, oh my God, and my only desire is to love you until my last breath. - St Jean-Baptiste Marie Vianney. (this is actually just the first line of a longer prayer) Edited November 14, 2015 by chrysostom
beatitude
"You are the first and the last, and the Living One." "Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you." "Strength and protection, may Thy passion be." (Line from a hymn.) "Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world." "My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love you. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love you." MarysLittleFlower
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love You, save souls (prayer given by Our Lord to Sr Consolata Betrone) "I am all Thine, and all that I have is Thine, O my loving Jesus, through Mary, Thy holy Mother" (St Louis De Montfort) Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love
NadaTeTurbe
I love short prayers. There's "Let nothing disturb you, only God suffices" (Nata te turbe, solo Dios basta) by Ste Teresa of Avila The Lord is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid ? (psalms 26)Teach me your ways, Oh Lord, that I may live according to your truth ! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. (psalm 86)Send our your light and your truth, let them lead me. (psalm 43)And this one is very important for me. I say it a hundred time in a day. "I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief !" from Mark 9,24 The psalms are full of little sentences, of short prayers, that you can say all days. It's a treasure. corban711
My #1 and by far the most frequent...repeatedly said throughout the days/weeks: Jesus, I trust in You! -Lord, have mercy. or the even simpler form...Jesus, mercy. -Father, see? **That one is typically said when I am really struggling and can't find words to pray...it's as if saying Father, I know You love me. I know You see me. Don't you see how I am struggling?? Please help. Look at what I am without You. I neeeeeeed You. etc. etc. -Come Holy Spirit. Come Now. Come as You wish. -Most Holy Trinity, I adore You. -Father, I adore You. Jesus, I adore You. Holy Spirit, I adore You. **sometimes love or trust or I surrender to is used in place of adore. -Mary, my Mother, I give myself entirely to you. -Thank you. **or the much longer variation...Thank you, Jesus. -Come Holy Spirit. Come by the means of the most powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your well-beloved spouse. -Stay with me, Lord, for I am a sinful man. -Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. -Bless the Lord, my soul! and many, many other short prayers just like those ones and others people have listed already...Whatever spontaneously springs up from the heart! Seven77
hrist, sanctify me Body of Christ, save me Blood of Christ, inebriate me Water from the side of Christ, wash me Passion of Christ, strengthen me O good Jesus, hear me Within Thy wounds hide me Suffer me never to be separated from Thee From the malicious enemy defend me At the hour of my death call me And bid me come to Thee That with thy saints I may praise Thee forevermore Amen Sometimes I take the lines “passion of Christ, strengthen me,” and “within thy wounds hide me” from the Anima Christi then just pray those as short invocations, as well as these: The Jesus prayer, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me (a sinner)” Come Holy Spirit! “I am all yours and all that I have is yours.” "Holy Mother of God, pray for me.” “Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine.” From Scripture: “Son of David, have pity on me.” “Lord, if you will you can make me clean.” “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” “My Lord and my God!” “Why are you downcast my soul? Hope in the Lord, I will praise him still.” “Here am I Lord, I come to do your will.” “Stay with me Lord.” “Thy will be done, thy kingdom come.” These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head… as Nada mentioned, the Psalms are a great treasury. PhuturePriest
I find "Drink thine own poison, Satan!" to be a nice motivator during temptation. "Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." "Jesus, Mary, I love you. Save souls."

SilverSeminarian
Come, Holy Spirit, and engulf me in the flame of God's love. I offer up (whatever I am doing, feeling, etc.) to you O Lord. (In the morning) May everything I do, say, and think reflect the glory of God. Christ, lead me to your cross. Grant me the gifts I need to fulfill your will, O God. (When I am in pain - physical, emotional, etc.) I offer this pain up to you O God. If it is your will, take it away so that I can share in Christ's glorious resurrection. If it is your will that I keep it, let it be a reminder of his sorrowful passion. Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love only what is holy.Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.Guard me so, O Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy.Amen. (This is not a prayer I wrote).
