Seven77
Thanks for getting my joke @Seven77 @dUSt Ha-- no problem, that's what I'm here for. I just can't get over the image of a man that looks like a pipe stove with glasses rubbing a freshly baked loaf and referring to it as “my precious." lol. KnightofChrist
Are you talking about a culinary professor? Hahaha, Freudian slip! I hadn't eaten all day and the whole time I was writing my last post out my stomach was shouting I want steak and a beer! But my wallet was saying you can afford a ham sandwich and a free glass of water. The bread on the sandwich was pretty good, as far as bread goes anyway. @dUSt Ha-- no problem, that's what I'm here for. I just can't get over the image of a man that looks like a pipe stove with glasses rubbing a freshly baked loaf and referring to it as “my precious." lol. Hey now I'd rather have bread than a beard, bread is easier to eat and not something you'd have to explain to a shrink.
Freedom
I agree Josh, personally I don't think we would find any children in hell, and there is even reason to hope it is entirely empty (besides the devil). Hope all you want, but it's not just the devil in hell…unfortunately I think people generally underestimate a child's capacity to do evil. If I recall correctly, Ted Bundy placed kitchen knives; surrounding them around his aunts bed while she was sleeping. He did this at the age of 3. Norseman82
When I read this thread I find myself wondering how some of the posters who are arguing with Josh relate to people in the real world. Josh is obviously out living in the real world, confronting battles every day, if I had to guess, with people who are in direct contradiction to the Church. Some of the people arguing with Josh seem to be approaching him in a way a theology major would debate a philosophy major. It's like two different worlds. One group is safe in an air-conditioned classroom, and the other is out on the front lines getting bloody--and the comfy students seem to be looking down upon the soldier. Just my take. I understand what you are saying and have observed that a lot of Catholics use orthodoxy as a cover to act like "poster children for Massengill" and may be why we have studies that say that religious children are meaner than non-religious (there is a thread on that study). On the other side of the extreme, there are those that would use the same words you're using to try to discredit Catholic teaching as "out of touch" with the modern world.
