Gabriela
I always struggle to come up with good gifts for people, so I thought maybe a thread would help me and others who struggle with that, too. What are y'all planning on giving this Christmas to family/friends? I plan to get my dad this, cuz he's a total gun nut. (Basically, it's a laser target. You put a "laser bullet" in a real gun and shoot at the laser target for practice. Since it's just a laser, you can have real target practice right in your living room.) Archaeology cat
I'm not sure yet. I need anniversary & Christmas ideas for my husband (our anniversary is 1 week before Christmas). Maybe a personalized growler. For the kids, I think I'll follow the guidelines of "something they want, something they need (for school), something to wear, something to read"

CatherineM
I'm getting my husband the bible and AD series. I'm paying my son's cell phone bill for the year. We're doing a go fund me thing to buy the developmentally disabled kids we take care of and the mentally ill guys we celebrate the holidays with some presents. Probably used video game cartridges for the kids, and subway gift cards for the guys. They're mostly on social assistance so food is a luxury sometimes and they mostly haven't had a present in years. We've also had a donation of some books for them to pick from.

CatherineM
Sheesh. We should just canonize you now! first off that would require me to be dead. Don't plan to drop for a bit yet. Second, saints don't have my vocabulary. Lastly, I do some of this because I don't have kids, partly as penance, and partly because someone needed to. veritasluxmea
Cheap student version. Went to the Newman center for a Christmas card making event and made everyone I need to "buy a gift for" (family) a handmade Christmas card. Even went the extra mile and made one I can mail to my grandparents.

Archaeology cat
What about something they can play with? 1) that can fall into the "something they want" category 2) we aren't the only ones getting them gifts 3) they have a ton of toys already and I need to downsize that (my parents get them loads of toys) 4) they're like cats - they happily play with string and boxes Ha, maybe you can help me ? I don't know what to choose for my mom between these three things : or or They're so cute. I can't choose. Those are my mother three favorite birds. So hard to choose! dominicansoul
Gift cards to their favorite stores. I know this is not very personal, but when you have a larger than life family with tons of people, it works better. I always go out to the parishes around here and get Masses said for them as well. I usually get Masses on dates that mark special days for them, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. I make a very cute Mass card that I give out to them on Christmas morning. I've been doing this for the last few years. I do this for every single person in my family as well as Godchildren outside my family. For the members I do not speak to as often or don't get to see, they may not know I'm doing this for them (they are out of state and out of touch,) but God knows and they will discover it when they get to Heaven, I'm sure. Also, I like to support the Summit Doms, so whatever little items I can get from them, lip balm, soaps, creams, etc., I'll give as gifts as well.
