NadaTeTurbe
The one in three campain is very, very, great. Just give a look to the posters : http://www.oneinthree.com.au/rrposter1/ Once in my high school, a girl hit her boyfriend (who was disable !), and nobody did anything. People around me were saying it was okay... A lot of times, we speak about how we are living in a society who over-sexualize women. But it's the same for men ! There's such a social pression to have sex for men... CatherineM
And those percentages are going up. My son has been a victim of it. First he is victimized by his girlfriend, and then the police who always give women the benefit of the doubt.
tinytherese
For so long, women have been mistreated. Now that more people realize that, some unfortunately, view it as empowering for a woman to hit a man. Guys can be embarrassed to talk about being abused, out of fear of looking pathetic. Many also don't want to talk about men getting raped either.
NadaTeTurbe
I volunteer with rape victims (women), and one thing that I've learn from it, is that we need trust between man and woman. What we need is mutual trust between man and woman. One day I read in a feminist blog that we needed to "reverse the power dynamics between man and woman". No. What we need to do, is to eliminate the idea of power dynamic between mand and woman. And, why a man hitting a woman is seen as acceptable in some circle ? Because the idea of violence is seen as okay. Why a woman hitting a man is seen as acceptable in other circles ? Because the idea of violence is seen as okay. Violence is never okay, that's all, but it's a hard thing to live bu. There's also this experiment about woman hitting man in the streets. There's violence in this video : http://realjusticewesteros.tumblr.com/post/130559103260/thecrystalfems-this-is-really-important CatherineM, many prayers for your son. I hope he can find help.
