MarysLittleFlower
This year (as I have for several years) I am dressing as the cranky old lady who doesn't answer her door to trick-or-treaters. I've turned off my porch light and will turn off my front living room lights just before 4:00 pm, when trick or treating officially starts in my town. As it is, I doubt that many children will be disappointed--my street doesn't get many trick-or-treaters. I know of only one or two families on my side of the street with children of trick-or-treating age. The other side of my street has a convent of retired Religious Sisters, a small monastery, a very large former motherhouse which is now been converted to high-end condos for adults over 55, and a nursery school. The former monastery grounds have been converted into a small, quiet park. One good thing is that when the Religious Sisters had to sell their large former motherhouse for financial reasons, the historical society in my town went to work to have the building declared a historical landmark. So, the building looks almost exactly the same as it did when it was a motherhouse--you wouldn't know it was condos. It's a graceful and lovely building. My cat and I have "set up shop" for the evening in my bedroom at the back of my house. I'm sitting on my bed with lots of pillows and my laptop. I have a very soft heating pad that I have set very low, and covered with a pillowcase, and my kitty is basking in the warmth. I've set the heating pad within arm's reach so that I can pet her easily. Kitties are so easy to please! A warm spot and lots of love makes for a very content, purring cat. Oh yes, I have set TWO jar candles from the Summit Dominicans on my dresser--Apple Harvest and Christmas Hearth. It is grey and drizzly outside, but inside my bedroom smells like late fall with a burning fireplace. This sounds like a great Halloween :D For me, I don't do any of the cultural things for Halloween, for me its All Hallows Eve literally. Im also the cranky lady who doesn't give out candy lol. I'd just stay at home and do my regular things or walk to my parish to pray. A nice cuddly cat and candles would be a nice addition though :D
