Inter-congregational response to migrants crisis

Several months ago, in response to the urgent needs of migrants arriving by boat in Sicily, the Union of International Superiors General (UISG) proposed to set up an inter-congregational community of women religious in Sicily. These sisters, from different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds and with a variety of skills and experience between them, would act as a stable, welcoming presence, simply being with and listening to migrants' stories and needs, and as an interface between migrants and local churches, social services, local religious etc.

Three of my RSCJ sisters will be part of this new community and are currently in Rome with the sisters from other congregations (sorry, I don't know who they are, just that they're from several other countries and congregations) preparing for their new mission. The RSCJ come from France, Italy and Poland, and have already lived and served in different countries.

One of them, Sr Florence from France, is interviewed here http://globalsistersreport.org/blog/q/ministry/q-sr-florence-de-la-villion-part-uisg-migrants-project-32846

Please pray for this new initiative and for the traumatised, desperate people whose needs they hope to serve.

Spem in alium

This is fascinating and sounds very much needed. I can see there would be great challenges, but think it's certainly worthwhile.
